I am currently a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor, National Certified Counselor, and Certified Anger Resolution Therapist. I have a certificate in the treatment of compulsive shopping and spending from the Shulman Center for Compulsive Theft, Spending and Hoarding. My education includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development and Family Studies from Indiana University, a Master of Arts degree in Liberal Arts from Texas Christian University and a Master of Education degree in Community Counseling from the University of Houston-Victoria. I have experience working with adults, adolescents, and children in the US and abroad.
I believe addiction and mental health illnesses affect not only the person diagnosed but their loved ones and caregivers, as well. I also believe, understanding a person’s culture and life experiences are critical for successful counseling.
I approach counseling using a variety of therapeutic techniques that include Brief Solution Focused Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I believe the way we think about ourselves can have a positive and/or negative impact on our daily lives. For clients struggling with addiction, I believe working the 12 steps will offer a sense of peace and self-reflection during our journey.
I look forward to providing a caring, safe place in order to achieve positivity and personal goals.
