Since high school I knew that my passion lied in helping people. I obtained my Bachelor degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison with a double major in Child and Family Studies and Psychology. After graduation, my husband and I moved to Denver, Colorado. There I pursued a Masters degree in Couple and Family Therapy. While in graduate school I worked at a residential treatment center for children and adolescents.
In 2005, my family moved to Houston, to be close to extended family. Since then I have provided counseling services to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault at a local shelter. I am licensed in the state of Texas as a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPCS) and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). Since 1998 I have worked with children, adults and families. My specialties include trauma work, depression, anxiety and family/relational issues.
As a counselor, I believe that you are the expert and have the answers within you. My goal is to provide individualized services that meet your current emotional needs, address baggage from your past and keep you focused on your goals for your future. With this in mind I will pull from a variety of techniques that will best meet your needs. My foundation tends to be cognitive-behaviorally focused (linking our thoughts to our feelings and behaviors), I also include elements of art and play therapy, dialectical behavior therapy and solution-focused therapy.
I look forward to working with you!
